5 Fat Burning Foods

There are certain foods in our diet that naturally increase your metabolic rate and burn fat.  By increasing your metabolic rate, they take more calories to digest then they give you.  Thus they are fat burning foods.  Below is list of 5 of these foods that help burn off your calories.

1.  Onions

Hate them or love them, onions contain a natural source of chromium; a nutrient that improves the efficiency of your insulin which keeps your blood sugar stable. By keeping your blood sugar balanced, it helps to eliminate those food cravings you get when you reach low blood sugar levels.

2. Coconut/ Coconut Oil

You can boost your energy levels by eating coconut or the oil.  Coconuts are rich with medium-chain fatty acid which gives your body an immediate source of fuel. These medium-chain acids are easier to break down than longer-chain fatty acids such as margarine, allowing the body to use it as an immediate energy source.

3.  Peaches

Not only do peaches taste great, they also increase your metabolism which burns fat.  Peaces contain an ascorbic acid that makes it easier for your body to burn fat.  Another good benefit of peaches is they are high in vitamin, which can help you fight off wrinkles and prevent skin damage.

4. Hot Peppers and Cayenne

Have you ever eaten a hot pepper and began sweating afterwards? You feel as if your body has heated up as a result of that burning taste. This is because both peppers contain capsaicin, which is a compound that helps speed up your metabolism and burn fat. So next time you’re eating dinner, consider adding a little bit more spice to your plate so you can burn off some extra fat at the same time.

5. Strawberries

This has to be my favourite fat burning food. Seriously, who doesn’t like strawberries? Strawberries have less sugar than other fruits and very high in fibre, which means that you can fill up quicker. Strawberries are probably the tastiest fat burning food, which is why I recommend you start eating them right away.

Hopefully this information can give you some direction when you are thinking of what you should eat. Obviously, this list is not nearly all inclusive of the fat burning foods, but it can give you a place to start. Why not try cooking a Thai curry (contains peppers, coconut milk, onions) with a dessert of peaches and strawberries? You might even end up losing a bit of weight at the end of it.
